That was probably my first somewhat finished track ever - made around ’98 or ’99. It was done in Impulse Tracker, which was amazing at the time. Later I switched to Buzz, which was another incredible piece of software. Glad to see it’s still alive.
Somehow the 2WEEKS.IT file, along with a few others, survived all these (more than 25) years! So in a wave of nostalgia, I decided to resurrect it.
At first, I tried exporting the MIDI with OpenMPT and finding modern-sounding replacements for each instrument in Studio One. But it was too much of a hassle, and it just wasn’t the same.
I ended up exporting all channels as .wav, did some minor EQ-ing, and slapped a Softube Bus Processor 670 - which just came out — on the master bus. I like to pretend I roughly know what I’m doing with it.
At the end of the chain is Uni-L, the new limiter from Tone Projects. I don’t even pretend to know what I’m doing with that one though - I’m just trying to keep everything around -14 LUFS(I).
